NFL Divisional Round Picks 2015

Here I offer my picks, score predictions, and brief commentary. I’m fairly sure I’ll be wrong on all of these, but here goes!

Ravens at Patriots

Tom Brady at home with a great defense to help him? Sorry Ravens, I want you to win but I pick the Patriots to win this one 24-13. Flacco will finally throw a pick or two and that’ll be enough to win in what will be a fairly close-feeling game throughout. Patriots in control the whole game.

Panthers at Seahawks

As hilarious as it’d be to see a 7-8-1 team in the Conference championship game, I just don’t see this happening. I also made the error of picking against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl last year, something that still haunts me. I’m not making that mistake again, and definitely not against a team with a losing record. Seahawks win this with a solid defense effort and enough of a ground-and-pound game to score. 20-10 Seahawks.

Cowboys at Packers

Romo is on fire right now and he’s leading a fantastic offense with tons of weapons. Here’s the problem: Aaron Rodgers is on the other team. I really want the Cowboys to win but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. This is the one I feel least confident about, but I’m gonna pick the Packers at home winning in a shootout 31-28.

Colts at Broncos

Peyton Manning gets another shot at the Conference Championship and the Brady-Manning rematch is on. I expect this to be another close one but I think the Colts have a few deficiencies on their team–like running the ball and rushing the QB–that will sink them in this one. Broncos win 35-24.

What about you?

Let me know who’s going to win and how wrong I am on scores and picks in the comments!

  1. Ravens over Patriots, 27-20. Upset. This was the one team in the AFC playoffs that I think could go into New England and beat the Patriots.

Seahawks over Panthers 30-14. The final score will likely be closer, but my brain says this is possible. Anyway, home field holds here for the #1 seed.

Packers survive 24-21 over Cowboys. Like you this one I am least confident in. I think the cold confines of Lambeau help the home team survive with a late fumble.

Broncos over Colts 28-17. With New England losing in my predictions, Denver hosts the AFC Championship next week.

  2. Good picks. I think I have one game I might go differently on. My picks as follows:

Ravens over Patriots, 27-20 in an upset! Baltimore was the one team that I thought that could go into New England in the AFC playoffs and beat the Patriots. Since they beat Pittsburgh last week, I think they can do the same against New England.

Seahawks over Panthers, 30-14. The final score will likely be closer because this is a playoff game, but my brain says that this score is possible. Anyway, home field holds here for the #1 Seed.

Packers survive 24-21 over the Cowboys. Like you, this one I am least confident in. I think the cold confines of Lambeau help the home team survive with a late fumble.

Broncos over Colts 28-17. With New England losing in my predictions above, this means Denver will host the AFC Championship next week.

What do you think of these predictions?

Yeah I think the Ravens could do it–and I want them to upset the Patriots!–but I’m just not confident enough to go with them again.

The reason I went so low with the score of Hawks/Panthers game is the great Defenses both teams are putting on the field. Anyway, I feel this is a pretty awesome divisional round with some great matchups!
